Q:
Is my organization too small to
list with fizzlers?
A: No company or organization is too small or
too large with fizzlers.com. Our prices are below competitors who
don’t even begin to approach the level of service and value we offer
dollar for dollar. If you are familiar with eBay or Amazon, both
offer mega giants like Sears and Black & Decker storefronts. Both
also offer the same opportunity for storefronts to the one-person
vendor operating in a basement the same venue at the same price
per/unit. At fizzlers.com, we endeavor to do the same.
Q:
What
does a basic listing cost?
A: We offer a service called Business Basic for
just $99/year with annual billing. The price of the business basic
service is in a promotional phase. Any business can get their foot
in the door for just $49/year with annual billing.
Q:
What is
annual billing?
A: A large part of any business is billing.
When you allow us to bill you electronically, you can remit your
payment by using our on-line PayPal shopping cart. You will
instantly receive an invoice and a link to our PayPal account. Your
listing will be activated within 24hours of you supplying us your
listing information. Because we save by billing this we, we pass
the saving directly back to you in the form of lower cost.
Q:
What’s
the best way to judge the effectiveness of my listing?
A: The very best way to judge the effectiveness
is to use the Business Standard service which now offering a years
listing and a three-month coupon that we will design for you or you
can supply to us. When your patrons bring their eCoupons to your
establishment, you both gain a new customer and will also know that
consumers are seeing your listing on fizzlers.com.
Q:
How did you get the name fizzlers?
A: We wanted more than a dozen catchy domain
names, but they were already taken. We tried to negotiate to buy
the domain names, but the present users wanted to retain the
rights. We started development of the website with the generic name
“ourwebsite.com” and continued to search for suitable name. Then, a
year into development, Mike Way, our president was so frustrated at
our inability to secure a name shouted in a meeting, “…this effort
to find a name is fizzling out!” Mike stopped, paused and snapped
his fingers saying in the same breath, “…I wonder how many people
fizzle out while searching the internet for whatever it is they’re
looking for?” And so, the name fizzlers was chosen.
Q:
How many areas
does fizzlers.com cover now?
A: Currently, fizzlers has 62,000 active
listings in all of Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia.
But we have been collecting company information from all over the
United States. Once we have minimum saturation in any new area, we
create a home page for the new locale and advertise it heavily in
that new area. We never charge a client for a listing until his/her
area has enough saturation to be active. As of this writing,
Chicago and Los Angeles have many entries in our database and will
be active soon.
Q:
What is the
future for fizzlers.com?
A: Fizzlers has perfected its business model in
the metropolitan Washington DC/Maryland area. We are expanding
nationwide as your read this. We have our sites on Canada and
Mexico. Once we work out the logistics fizzles hopes to have the
resources to go world-wide within a few years. And because anyone
with the zeal and work ethic, can become an associate of fizzlers
with incredible earning potential, we fully expect fizzlers to grow
exponentially in the near future.
Q:
Suppose I have more than one
location, do I pay for listing each business?
A: If you have more than one location, each
additional location is deeply discounted similar to the way multiple
shipping saves you on each additional order. For example; if you
order a DVD from an on-line vendor, you may be charged $5.00 for the
single item, but if you order several DVDs at the same time, many
vendors will charge you only a fraction of the original $5.00
because it doesn’t cost that much more to include a second or even a
third DVD in the same package for just a little extra postage.
Fizzlers.com does the same, each additional
listing with a different location is discounted by approximately
between 40% ~ 60% depending on how many additional locations are
stored in our database. Once you enter your information, you will
receive an eInvoice for your approval.
Q:
Is there a
way to change the order in which the name of my business
comes up?
A: No. All organizations are returned in
alphabetical order. If you want to be noticed first your
organization should consider enhancing your listing with BOLD or
color in the listing.
Q:
My
business is in a category that you do not currently list.
What can I do?
A: Any business not listed in one of our major
categories is placed in the “General Business” category. Your
business will be coded to reflect the specifics of what your
organization is all about and will still be seen by users looking
for what you do. For example, let’s say you make stained glass
windows. We have no category for stained glass, but your listing
will be placed under “glass contractors”, “specialty shops”, and
“arts & crafts”. We strive very hard to give you the most
visibility possible. Additionally, our users know that they can
perform and “advanced search” on just the word “stained glass” and
your organization will also show up. Finally, when we have enough
vendors to create a specific category across enough zip codes, we
will create that category and add it to our other category listing.
Q:
Are there any
plans to take fizzlers.com public?
A: No.
Q:
Why do
searches return companies that I know are farther than
nn number of miles away?
This is the question we are asked most by
consumers. The answer is both simple and complex. We use the zip
code database provided to us by the US government. That database
list the approximate distance between zip codes by mid points. What
does that mean? If you examine a zip code map you will see that
each zip code resembles a piece of a jig-saw puzzle. Often, one zip
code wraps around another zip code who range could be between 1 ~ 12
miles in some rural locales. If you look for a barber or tire store
in a zip code that is adjacent to a really spread out zip code, you
will get tires stores and barbers who are clearly farther away than
your specified search parameters. I wish we could do something
about this but we only have one source for our zip code data and it
is as accurate as is humanly possible given the geography of certain
areas.
Q:
How are gasoline
prices collected and kept up-to-date?
A: Both the consumer and the station owner can
email or enter a gasoline price for any station they wish. We used
to use a service that collected the credit and debit card data, but
we discovered that there are a number of cash-only and wholesale
club gasoline stations that don’t accept credit cards. Because the
people provide the data in real time, we find it to be more
accurate. Our field auditors drive around and spot check for the
accuracy of reported fuel prices every day.
We also enforce strict professionalism. If a
competing gasoline station reports the gas of his/her competitor by
entering false data, the offending station is flagged as a cheat and
will not be permitted to list his prices on fizzlers for 30 days for
each occurrence. If it happens more that three times, that station
will permanently be removed from our database unless and until proof
of new management can be verified by one of our field auditors.
Q:
How can I become
a part of the fizzlers.com team?
A: We are always looking for writers,
restaurant and movie reviewers and salespeople who want to earn more
and have fun in the process. If you’re serious, send an email to
careers@fizzlers.com
